Welcome

Welcome to The School of The Iron River, a disciplined school of fitness, mobility, and movement — centered around the practice of steel mace flow. The steel mace is an ancient tool with a history of preparing warriors for battle and keeping them in peak physical condition.

While the battlefield is no longer a concern for many of us, we still face the real challenge of keeping fit regularly, efficiently, and ideally, with pleasure.

The School of the Iron River is Charlotte's first academy for private and classroom instruction in steel mace flow, offering meaningful and valuable practice for using a tool that leaves most people puzzled.

Revival of a Tradition

The steel mace is a tool that maximizes potential while being portable enough to be carried anywhere. It is known for it's development of the shoulder muscles and arms, as well as the ability to form an iron grip. Movement with the mace calls for delicate balance, and as proficiency improves, opportunities continue to open themselves up.

School of the Iron River is designed to touch upon many aspects of physical health and vitality, while employing the mace and respecting it's potential.

While rooted in ancient tradition, much of it's power and knowledge has faded from the collective conscious, and only recently has it been regaining formidable popularity.
